Don’t you know

A Candid Confession of Early Trauma, Lingering Shadows, and New Beginnings

If you have an hour to spare
Can I sit and open my heart
It’s an awkward situation
And I don’t know where to start
It all started long ago
Before I knew my mind
I was born into a mist
And I knew that I was blind
Went from one trap to the next
Being moved by circumstances
Didn’t know the implications
I guess I never had a chance
Now that time is far away
Though the memory lingers on
Of the things my family saw
That are not yet dead and gone
Of the anger and brutality
I can’t really well explain
All I know is how I felt
As my life restarts again.
